Not all people have soft and pink lips. And that is not an uncommon issue. There is some reason that could be a cause of pigmentation or darkening of the lips. Sometimes, your lifestyle is to blame, too!
But if you have black lips since birth, or should we just say dark lips, I’m sorry but that kind is genetic and the only solution for that is cosmetic surgery. Don’t feel too bad since it’s not only you who have the same problem, cheer up! Good news for those whose lips become darker due to some reasons, there are available remedies for you!
Tips to get soft pink lips naturally
Here I listed the remedies and routines that can help you obtain a soft pink lips that will add more attractiveness to your face.

Exfoliate
Include exfoliating your lips in your beauty care routines even for at least twice a week. You can do it by just using sugar. Simply dip your forefinger in a clean water and then again dip it in sugar. The purpose of using water is to make sure sugar will stick with your finger and have some moisture when you rub it into your bare lips. Just rub it gently against your lips and wash it off when you’re done. As a finishing, don’t forget to apply lip balm.

Use Lip balm
Make applying lip balm before going to bed at night a habit. With lip balm on your lips overnight, you’ll wake up with soft pink lips in the morning. Anyway, you can also apply lip balm as your lipstick base just like what I’m doing. 🙂 Lip balms with artificial ingredients and dyes is a no-no! Don’t be fooled by the sweet advertisements, always check the label and go for those with natural ingredients. Lip balms with cocoa butter or beeswax is a good choice.

Use honey
Honey has a very good moisturizing properties which can be used as an alternative to lip balms. It makes lips appear with youthful shine, too. You can use honey by leaving it in your lips for around 30 minutes before washing it off. Using sugar and olive oil with honey is another option. Just add one tablespoon of olive oil and honey into two tablespoons of sugar and mix them together before rubbing on your lips. Let it stay for around 30 minutes before washing it off.

Use Vitamin E
Using vitamin E before bedtime is another remedy to get soft and pink lips! It’s an over the counter medicine which is usually in soft gel form. It helps in hydrating thus making your lips soft.

Check the lipsticks you use
When you’re purchasing a lipstick, it’s always a good choice to buy those with ingredients like vitamin E, shea butter, or jojoba oil. If your lipstick contains any of these, it will keep your lips moisturized thus preventing it from drying out.
Excessive and prolonged use of lipsticks and any other lip cosmetics may also cause lip pigmentation, most especially those lipsticks with lower quality. It can be one of the reasons why obtaining soft pink lips seems to be difficult for you. Moderate your use of lipsticks and only use them when you need to. Remove them before you go to bed by using olive oil or coconut oil. You don’t need lipstick while you’re sleeping, but instead, use a lip balm to condition your lips while you sleep!
Some people are probably using their lipstick until they finished it entirely, sometimes they keep it for years and still using it! Oh, that’s also a no~no! Because just like any other products, lipsticks also have their expiration dates, let’s say lipsticks is only good for about 12-18 months before it expires. So don’t use an expired lipstick if you care enough for your lips. wink*_* wink *_*

Avoid sucking your lips
Sucking or biting your lips can dry them which may lead to turn your pink lips into dark lips! Avoid lip sucking or biting habit as much as possible, you may unconciously damage your lips.

Lips may darken with sun exposure, so make it a habit to use lip balm, lipsticks, or any other lip product with SPF in it to protect your lips most especially when you’re going outdoors. That way, you can maintain that soft pink lips with you.

Limit your caffeine intake
Maintain that pink lips by limiting your coffee and tea intake, so you can prevent your lips from obtaining a darker color. Too much consumption of coffee and tea can change the color of your lips over time aside from the fact that it’s staining your teeth.

Keep yourself hydrated
Keeping yourself hydrated also makes a significant impact to your lips. Drink plenty of water to maintain the hydration in your body so as your lip’s natural color. Lips must be kept moisturized to avoid it from getting chapped and dry, because this scenario will probably increase the possiblity of darkening the lips.

Maintain a healthy diet
It is important to have plenty intake of fruits and green vegetables to maintain a healthy diet so your body will get enough vitamins from them. Lacking in vitamins can also be a cause of lip discoloration, like turning a pink lips into a pale or darker lip, perhaps.

Don’t smoke
Being addicted to smoking can lead your pink lips to turn into dark. There is no doubt, and as being said, nicotine is one of the major causes of darkening and discolorations of the lips. Think about the people you know who smoke, how many of them have pink lips and how many have darker lips? I guess, the number of those who smoke with darker lips is larger.
